OSM lists a lot of traffic_calming nodes. These nodes sometimes contain the surface key. That still doesn’t help much to determine the intensity of the impact of the vertical deviation.
I see 4 main shapes:
- trapezoid = most common shape (including triangular)
- sinusoid = sinus shape (this shape has the lowest impact considering enough length, sinus shape did I only see where
surface=asphalt
) - convex/spherical
- flat (
painted_table
,rumble_strip
)
Especially for the table
(and choked_table
), it would be of value to know if its the sinusoid or the trapezoid shape applies. traffic_calming=table
+ shape=sinus
=> lower penalty.
What could be the response to a proposal of this kind?
