Was looking for a post I did yesterday on platform_edge tagging expecting the result to be at/near the top, chronologically sorted newest to oldest. Did not see it so hit more, nothing, so went to my profile, my posts it being there near the top.
Once found I added another post in this platform_edge discussion and went to advanced search, filtering on various and user, me. Only yesterday’s post was listed, not the one of this morning, suspecting there’s a lapse time, indices not updated in real time.
Secondly, I would expect that a search index that has to process an average of 400 topics and 6000 posts every month also needs a little time for indexing, depending on the queue.
Or have I misunderstood your issue?
Taking the ‘dumb as a box of hammers’ approach’ the first search just filling out the box right top, in grey it prints “all topics and posts” (and then in nearly invisible to my waning eyesight) ‘or press enter’, not entering any search refinements, expecting the newest to be at the top.
I don’t think the sort order is encoded in the link, so I’m not sure if what each of us sees depends on previously chosen sort order. I see your post from today with Latest Post. With Relevance or Latest Topic the results are quite different.
Looked in preferences and do not immediately see any settings that I could ‘fix’ when search this forum system. I clean browser cache and cookies daily, as just now and when logged in this appears with those grey and nearly invisible links.
Suppose it’s another issue to chalk up for my Discourse experience (still can’t see likes other than the ones I gave, just counts and black icons with ‘unknown/deleted user’ as name).
Thx, found that with “Relevance” as the default (not my choice). Writing a new topic and then getting outlandish suggestions of prior topics supposedly touching on my subject underscores that 'mind of it’s own.
‘New’ is not necessarily better. My next feedback suggestion might have been a forum class ‘Editors’ with subs such as JOSM, ID Editor, Rapid, Vespucci, OSMand, StreetComplete and a few more wider used apps, but fear that’s opening a ‘Can’ of but ‘what about mine?’, so I refrain. :O)))
