Hi, I’ve been mapping Russian administrative boundaries on OpenHistoricalMap and figured out that territorial seas and large lakes are federal property and not the property of the federal subjects. However I see on OSM the boundaries have been mapped up to the 12nm line. Am I wrong or have OSM mappers just not taken the time to improve the boundary?
Your are formally right. Territorial seas and large lakes are not the property of the federal subjects. However, if I remember it correctly, the current practice was considered to be less evil than including the shoreline in administrative boundary relations.
