Should river lines be mapped through lakes, estuaries, gulfs, and other large water bodies?

Here is a waterway line I mapped last night. It is a connection through a wetland. Here is the latest aerial imagery: [Wetlands with no obvious main waterway through it] There is no obvious main waterway visible going through it, and yet a stream flows in one end and out the other. I’ve tagged the waterway line as intermittent=yes to sort of suggest that it doesn’t represent the exact geometry of how the water flows. I’ve seen other mappers do this for streams through wetlands like this, …

Based on that, adding to proposal something like. “When a waterway enters a natural=wetland, tag with waterway=flowline and interminent=yes.”
