indoor=wall was defined as tag for linear walls, wouldn’t it make more sense to keep this distinction and use something like area:indoor=wall instead for walls that are represented as areas?

also, indoor has inconsistent use being both, a key for indoor related features like rooms, walls, doors, columns and corridors, and a key for a property to say something is (also) indoor or has an indoor space (indoor=yes) or also not (indoor=no) and which is the dominant usage with 54% of all usage?

Common feature combinations for the latter are

highway=footway
highway=corridor
emergency=defibrillator
highway=steps
amenity=atm
amenity=vending_machine
amenity=waste_basket
amenity=drinking_water
bicycle_parking=stands
highway=elevator

I am not convinced that area:indoor=wall is a practical solution.
This opens a hole lot of tagging mistakes, such as indoor=room + area:indoor=wall.
I think sticking with allowing area=yes for indoor=wall is the best solution.

I don’t know what you want to convey with your indoor=yes or indoor=no comments.
This discussion is only about area based indoor walls, not defibrillators / ATMs / …
Let’s stay on topic.

Furthermore, there were already some a negative remarks regarding area:indoor=wall on the previous post:
