This is a continuation of the Aerodrome Classification RFC.
The voting for the previous proposal ended in rejection, mainly due to disagreement over the suitability of the classification definitions.
As a result, I’ve changed the aim of the proposal. Instead of making a new classification system the proposal will be based only on currently in-use tags.
Summary:
Currently multiple natures of values are being stuffed into the same tags (aerodrome=* and aerodrome:type=*) when describing aerodromes. The proposal aims to sort each nature into their own suitable tag.
usage=* takes values describing how the aerodrome is used.
access=* takes values describing who can use the aerodrome.
sport=* takes values describing which airsports are practiced at the aerodrome.
port_of_entry=* describes whether the aerodrome takes international traffic or not.
aerodrome=* takes values describing what type the aerodrome is.
Starting values for each tag are proposed based on currently in-use values.
There are also separate tags for special types of aerodromes.
