Reviewing object of a certain type in iD

I’m trying to review objects of a certain type using the iD editor, since I have found a lot of objects that are tagged incorrectly. In this specific case, I have found a lot of objects in the Stockholm area that are tagged with railway=subway_entrance when they should be tagged with railway=train_station_entrance. Since the review has to be based on local knowledge, I want to display all nodes that are currently tagged railway=subway_entrance, check on the map if they are correct, and change them if they are not.

I realise I could generate this list on Overpass Turbo, but then I would not be able to edit them there. Is there are way to search for a certain node type/tag in the iD editor itself? Should I use another editor? Should I use Overpass Turbo to do the search and then import the result somehow into iD?

Yes, you can import a GeoJSON overlay into iD using the Map Data pane

Thank you. Unfortunately this involves a lot of back-and-forth, especially if using private browsing, but it certainly is a good solution when only a few edits are necessary.

So, sadly, no. Though there was some movement recently on that issue.

JOSM has some nice functionality, including TODO plugin.

You could also create a single issue Mapcomplete year in the studio, but that would be more work than just following the Overpass links.

Thanks. This seems to be the best way so far, I managed to speed up my changes a lot with this method. The one drawback is that it doesn’t select the node I want to edit, since the overlay is, well, overlayed.

Then there are other problems with the iD editor unrelated to this, such as not being able to review changes in detail (as far as I have found), you only get a list of changed nodes. Since I want to be sure that I only make a very specific kind of change, and don’t change anything else, it feels a bit risky when I do it for a lot of nodes at once.

Getting away from the actual how-to side of things, have you discussed your proposed changes with the rest of the Swedish mapping community?

No, but the translation of railway=subway_entrance is extremely clear in Swedish, and can only mean a thing that these nodes were not. Most of the nodes with railway=subway_entrance are correct, and I followed the wiki instructions to make sure I didn’t change to something that it wasn’t supposed to be. Also, on at least one of the nodes is part of a public_transport=stop_area for a station not marked as subway.

But maybe I should have anyway, I don’t know where the line is drawn between things that need to be discussed and things that don’t need to be. The problem was mainly that I didn’t find anywhere to discuss this.

My guess is that since many of these were created a long time ago, no one has really bothered to look at the specific type of entrance and see if it matches the station type. These checks could have been automated, but obviously weren’t. I fixed some of them, but I’m sorry that I broke your rules doing it.

There was exactly zero things tagged “sweden” in General talk, and one two year old message in “Help and support”, so I didn’t really find any active discussions.
