Sure thing, but what if you don’t know the material or you used barrier=yes or an unsupported barrier=* value? There should be a tag to use in those scenarios as well as to put them in the Implies: section on the wiki pages for most commonly-used barriers.

I’ll try to rephrase Tolstoi21’s main question: What’s the use case here? A router can generate faster routes if it works on the assumption that the emergency vehicle can smash through certain barriers? Or the driver checking tags while driving during an emergency?
