DWG received a request to revise the Clyst Hydon Footpath 8 that currently goes through Peradon Farm. The OP stated that the Devon County Council revised the route in 2019. They provided the following image showing the new route. Can someone local please look into the footway and revise as needed?
In case anyone’s worried about the “Crown Copyright” on that extract map, Devon’s PRoW data (which shows the new route) is available as OGL, was obtained by rowmaps, has been plotted on a map overlay by @Richard and can be seen here.
Here’s my rendering of the PRoW data for Clyst Hydon. Yes, the path through the farm looks to have been diverted.
We generally wouldn’t want to map new routes just from the PRoW data, and we prefer a ground survey to make sure the official route is actually accessible on the ground. Though sometimes aerial imagery is clear enough to see where a path/track goes. It should be ok to delete the existing mapped route where there’s no evidence of a path or other track on aerial imagery, and downgrade it / remove the access tags where there is.
I’ve done a bit of mapping of other features around the new route from aerial imagery, and removed the old route where there’s no path visible on the aerial imagery. Another part is clearly a track on a ground, so I’ve adjusted the tagging there. I haven’t looked to see how much (if any) of the new route could be added from aerial imagery.
