Removing names from Military landuse areas

DWG here: A user has been removing the name from military landuse areas. OSM does allow posting names of military bases. But before going to the user, I wanted to make sure that there is no issues in Korea. Here is the latest changeset where the user removed the name tag. OSMCha. There are others.

Um, all these cases happened 2-4 months ago. And it seems like it was resolved a long time ago. I wrote about it:

If I missed a specific change, it’s better to point to it specifically, rather than to point to the resolved cases.

There’s currently one active user in Korea who’s making changes to military bases. Unfortunately, I don’t know how to verify whether they’re making these changes correctly, but at least they’re not deleting data.

Here’s him

Note that on Oct 10, 2025 there was a local news reporting that misrepresented OSM as some sort of security threat, which has seemingly triggered a wave of one-off vigilante editors trying to “enforce national security laws” that simply does not apply here.

The editor in question has given bogus reasons for removing military sites that do exist, such as “not mapped based on GPS,” or simply no reason at all. AFAICT the changes were not discussed with the Korean community beforehand, and all of their edits have been reverted. I don’t see any reason this account should not get banned.
