how do i remove a private driveway off of Open street maps?? i can not! keep delivery trucks from driving on my property, no matter what signs and or blockade i put up. please help!
existing driveway would be deleted as a public way (marked as inaccessible to general public)
to investigate this specific case we would need its location - where it is?
(I bet that it will not affect delivery trucks at all, especially if this try to deliver things for you)
it was part of a abandoned road from our township. it was turned over to our family 40yrs. ago. the map shows it, it actuallly is between two other rds. one county and the state. Google maps deleted it from there system for me, but i’m still getting Amazon drivers driving over my barricade and signs. they are that stupid. the driveway is growed up with grass. i have signs, 6x6 post laying there and signs. i need this off the GPS maps please
What’s the way ID?
8915 Rushville rd ne 43150 ohio
Close enough. Is it this? Way: 327861984 | OpenStreetMap
Would it just be the part between US 22 and CR 77?
yes the section between cr77 and st rt 22. that is what i need removed. it actually is fenced off on e the 22 side, but they come in from the cr77 side which is blocked also. it’s crazy
I can see the fence on the US 22 side, but not exactly sure where the north barricade is.
Are my circles correct?
i have a plow now sitting where the driveway splits, that’s where i have things baricaded now. the small object you see is a disc mower i left in the way also
Okay, I think this should solve your problem based on the information you provided. Give the map tiles a bit to reset and the gap should show up.
the delivery trucks got so bad, we had to fence it off, it’s a liability
Normally roads on private property aren’t deleted (just get access tags added), but since it sounds like you’re intending to just get rid of the road I think it’s safe to remove.
The way already had access=private on it, Amazon’s router must be ignoring that tag.
i hope so i really appreciate this, it’s getting out of hand. so bad so they where driving the other way through my drive beside my house and between my buildings
the problem is they see it on the map and assume it’s open even with barricades, i’ve never seen anything like it. that’swhy i need it removed all together. i hope i can get more mapping companies to do it also, so this problem eventually goes away, what a headache. i appreciate all the help you have no idea!
they come to the house fine, but then they try to drive up that drive to get to the neighbors acrross st rt 22 from me. if it can be removed it will substantually cut back the traffic.alot of them get baffled and confused as soon as they see they can not get through, it’s sad and funny to watch the look on their faces
Have you complained to Amazon?
While Amazon’s own routers are based on OSM, they do not exclusively use OSM data, so any changes we make now, are not guaranteed to quickly update their routers. ![]()
Morning, i have called and talked to dispatchers from Amazon, got nothing there. i have tlaked to the drivers driving on my property to help me buy saying something to their supervisors, still nothing. whatever it takes to get this off the maps, please make it happen, it’s ridiculous, and annoying. i have video of these people driving on my property. i appreciate your help.
See Why we won't delete roads on private property - OpenStreetMap Wiki
And even if it gets deleted from OSM, someone might re-add it later without access tags (and just because the path isn’t present in Google Maps —it’s annoyingly selective about which paths it feels like having— doesn’t mean it can’t be on OSM i.e. Google Maps IS NOT A GOLD STANDARD)
They have to ignore it because many driveways have access=private already and delivery drivers are still required to go to the house. The new barriers and the removed segment should correct the problem for those using OSM as a source.
Any property owner should have the right to have there privacy, especially when a delivery service is tresspassing, i have signs posted everywhere and they are ignored, i have video of them tresspassing. this is a start to help eliminate the issue, before lawyers get involved
