Remove some data from osm.bz2

Hello,
I am new to OSM maps.

I downloaded map named “czech_republic.osm.bz2”. Unpack it to “czech_republic.osm”. Now, there are many (for me) useles informations, like POIs, hydrants, buildings, etc. I want to remove this data and keep only routes, streets and their names + city names. How can I do it? I use Windows 7.

After then, I want to convert it to “.map” file, like in this tutorial: https://github.com/cgeo/c-geo-opensource/wiki/How-to-create-your-own-offline-maps.

You could use Osmfilter. It can remove objects with or without specific tags. See http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Osmfilter
