I’m not sure if this is something fixable or not, but I noticed this behavior.
When reactions are all negative (for example, reaction is 2 x
), the reaction summary is this:
Ideally, the
should not appear when all reactions are

Is that why that is? Because it doesn’t happen for all posts with only thumbsdown reactions.
My assumption was that it might be some sort of new account related filter, or votes from the same ip-address being hidden, or something else along those lines.
I noticed it in another thread as well, but not for all downvoted posts.
I think in that case, the
reaction is counted in the
group.
A post I spotted in this last couple of days showed “
2”
When I moused over the
, it showed the name for who added it, but
just kept cycling?
Same. I think this happens when that user made their profile private.
Though right now none of the reactions are loading. Presumably because the comment has been hidden
I think this was the one I saw: Follow-up on ‘Wikidata–OSM vandalism report’ and personal claims but it’s now showing 3 emojis but only 2 names, with the
still just cycling.
On mobile, the
won’t even show up, only the other two emojis. Smells like an upstream issue.
As for the OP issue, I have never faced such issue of viewing a “ghost” emoji which isn’t actually counted.
The specific one I noticed most recently was this message.
That message (Somalia message 70) is odd because it shows +1 reactions but never loads the list of users. Because the post is hidden I want to check with a non-hidden post. I’ve also started a download of the backup so I can query it locally to see what the reactions on the post really are.

Hey @ZeLonewolf, I noticed the same thing! It seems a bit confusing when all reactions are negative but a thumbs-up still shows. Maybe it’s a display quirk or some filter as @Taya_S suggested. Would be great if the summary only shows actual positive reactions.
