I added another functionality: an optional ?z= parameter will change the zoom from the default value. For example:
https://brzozo.ws/random-note/PL?z=19
will open the random note at zoom level 19.
I hope this will be useful to you ![]()

Do you think it is possible to add a functionality that retrieves random notes from non-anonymous accounts only?
The tool doesnāt work anymore, I get a ā404 Not Foundā error on https://brzozo.ws/random-note/list. Can you twiddle some knobs, as itās been a nice way to leisurely look at open notes in regions of interestā¦
Hey, sorry I havenāt announced. I migrated my homelab to a different machine. I couldnāt however get reverse proxy to work with it (somehow static pages do work). Stay tuned, I will try to fix this soon. The tool otherwise works in my browser over a wg tunnel so itās a skill issue on my part.
Looks like it works again, however note sync with OSM is not functional yet. Got to configure the script.
Edit: should work now. I need to make a systemd service instead of a cron script, but thatās not critical. Expect short downtimes in the coming days.
I fixed a bug that was introduced during migration. You might have noticed there being a bias towards new notes. This was because I forgot to crontab a note reshuffling SQL which needs to be run once in a while to balance inserted notes with existing ones.
The website now shows (to me at least) 502 Bad Gateway.
Fixed that. There was a power outage I think.
Hi, i love to sometimes use your tool to fix random notes, its really fun! Unfortunately it seems to be down again, I just get a timeout ![]()
Sorry, must be internet connectivity problems (I canāt reach it either). Give it a few hours, I guess.
Itās just worked for meā¦
oh it already works again! Sorry for making a pointless comment then, thanks anyways!
So it must have regained connectivity ![]()
Itās a mini PC sitting in an apartment, connected to fiber internet, but Iām not on-site. Usually when there are problems itās either a temporary power failure or the ISP having some transient issues.
Apologies for the current downtime. Somehow stopping a Proxmox container made it hang, even if some services work, the admin panel and SSH do not. Either I will ask my family to restart it, or in the worst case I will resolve it tomorrow around 23:00 CEST.
Edit: itās working again ![]()
