Hello, Welcome to OSM! I live and hike in Colorado. Hiking trails are generally tagged highway=path or highway=footway, although there is ongoing discussion about changing this for some cases. Some mappers think these “routes” should not appear in OSM at all because there may be little evidence on the ground. I am not taking sides on this issue, just letting you know that this is being debated.
