Quick question: why is this road shown like that

Hello OSM community,

I contribute only rarely, but today changed some tracktype attributes of highway=track roadswhich I had just ridden. They were mapped as tracktype=grade1, but were compact gravel so I changed to grade2. I find this particular useful on the map because both types have clear visible distinction (solid line vs. dashed line).

Doing so I noticed two gravel segments, which are not rendered as either solid or dashed brown lines. They do not look like any other redering style I am familiar with, but on first sight appear more like a footpath rather than the gravel road they are - whiyh I think is quite misleading.

I am curious now which attributes gives them their visual style. Can someone explain or point me to where I can find it?

The reason for the different rendering is the access tag. Has recently been discussed here:

Ausgegraute Waldwege in Carto

No idea, but layer=-1 suggest it went underground and that is most likely only because a mapper struggled with crossing ways and answered something like ‘which way is higher/lower?’.

Thanks for the quick answer. I tried to look for that but did not found that the access tab leads to different rendering.

I’ll read about it and then will remove that tag if it makes sense.
