Questions about how to solicte changes to be made to the base map image

I work for a university and we have noticed some things on the base map image for the OpenStreetMap (Standard) are not correct anymore. Who could we contact to make changes to remove some old Halls and housing that is no longer in use for our Univeristy?

Hello and welcome to the OpenStreetMap forum!

First and foremost, OpenStreetMap is a community project consisting of volunteers who create and maintain an open world map in their free time.
There are no defined contact persons here like in a company, we don’t have a secretariat for mapping orders.

Instead, we want to motivate the people out there to make these changes themselves. Because it’s that simple!

All it takes is a free user account on osm.org, which is set up so quickly and you only need an e-mail address. See some more details about the account here.

There are no verification processes when processing the map. Every change is processed immediately after uploading and displayed on the base map within a few minutes. A good tutorial about the in-built editor on osm.org you can find here.

We also have numerous regional sub-forums here. You can of course also try to post a request in the appropriate sub-forum, stating where your university is located and what changes should be made.

Maybe there is someone online who is willing to help and can make the changes for you.

If you have any further questions about anything that interests you, don’t hesitate to ask them here! There is usually someone on this forum around the clock who is happy to help.

Best regards!

Thank you, I have an account and have made a few edits, my question pertains to editing the underlying image referred to as OpenStreetMap (Standard) that the data is overlayed on.

This is a matter of caching. Press Ctrl-F5 to flush the cache and force-refresh the tiles.
