QUESTION Re; Residential area polygon edges

I am fairly new to OpenSteetMap, and have been doing some beginner level projects.
I keep seeing this statement in the instructions: “Always connect roads to other roads where they meet and never end roads on Residential area polygon edges.”.
I don’t really understand what it means by ‘Residential area polygon edges’. I have tried Googling it, but I can’t seem to find any helpful information online.
So I am wondering if somebody could tell me what it means by this?

Thank you!!

Hi and welcome to OSM and the forum

You can draw a polygon over an area and tag it with landuse=residential to mark it as…

You should not connect any (physical) way to a (logical) area tagged with landuse=* .
