Hello,
I am reaching out regarding the use of map data for an open-source bridge analysis and design software, OsdagBridge, that I am currently working on at IIT Bombay.
Our software uses a map interface to allow users to select project locations within India, which is then used to extract parameters such as wind speed, seismic zone, and temperature data. We are currently using the global OpenStreetMap data; however, we have noticed that it does not reflect correct boundaries for India. Since OsdagBridge is intended for use within India and must accurately represent Indian territory, this is a critical problem, both technically and from a legal/regulatory standpoint.
We came across OpenStreetMap India and found that the representation appears more appropriate for our use case. We wanted to understand:
- How we might build or customize a map similar to yours for integration into our software
- Whether it is possible to directly use your map data or services within our application
- If direct usage is possible, what are the applicable terms, conditions, and legal considerations
Our goal is to ensure that we are using a solution that is both technically suitable and compliant with all relevant guidelines.
We would appreciate any guidance or resources you could share. Thank you for your time and support.
Best regards,
