Proposed work on iD triaging and id-tagging-schema improvements (redux)

Earlier this year, the Engineering Working Group funded @Mateusz_Konieczny’s work to process the backlog of pull requests and issues in the iD and id-tagging-schema repositories, as well as some straightforward, uncontroversial improvements to the latter. You can read a report of this activity from last month.

Based on this work, Mateusz is proposing that the EWG fund a second round of work on these repositories. The scope of work would be extended to include schema-builder (the data model for id-tagging-schema). As part of this process, the EWG would like your comments regarding this proposal. This public consultation will last two weeks. You can comment either here in this thread or on the following pull request:

If there is money in the bucket that is available for such tasks, it seems like a good idea to me, as previous work seems good to me given that report.

Of course, this proposal should be weighed against other competing proposals and funds available to EWG for funding such work (which were not mentioned here, and I have not tried digging to obtain, so I can’t judge if there is enough money and/or better uses for that money)

Chiming in a bit late, but as the iD maintainer, I can only give this follow-up proposal a huge thumbs up: Collaborating with Mateusz was very productive and fruitful during the first grant earlier this year.

Fully agreed. I don’t know what the other options are for how to use these funds, but I do think that Mateusz’ work earlier in the year was valuable, and the report-out was incredibly thorough.

I have received today final confirmation that this proposal was approved. Thanks!

I will try to make this time as useful as possible.
