Proposed automated edit: Standardizing NYC Bus Stop Names

Currently, most existing NYC bus stop names adhere to OSM convention but about 100-200 do not. This update will standardize bus stop naming conventions, which will also prepare for expanding the use of ref and GTFS route relations for NYC transit by making it easier to match GTFS and OSM data.

I support expanding street names for public transport features - we’re working on the same thing for WA. :slight_smile:

Thanks for the feedback all. This automated edit has been uploaded.

Update: I ran a second round to correct spellings for 117 MTA bus stops that had a value of “network” other than “NYC Transit.”

Please also make sure they all use network:wikidata as it’s a much better join key.

Thank you for pointing that out @campbelltree . I’ve noticed some inconsistent network naming and I will definitely incorporate checking for/adding network:wikidata into my next step expanding the use of ref and GTFS route relations, which will be easier now that the bus stop naming is more standardized.
