Hello,
I am planning on importing addresses from MontCo GIS data to the map. I am NOT planning any sort of large scale import, I will be importing addresses in small neighborhood areas as I add the buildings to the map (thus no more than 50 or so addresses per changeset or per day, per se).
Data License: I have confirmation by email from the GIS manager for Montgomery County, PA, that all of its data is “Open and free for use.” The official MontCo GIS page linked in my OSM bio claims “The geographic data layers and applications produced by the Government of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, and any associated maps and applications, are provided as a public resource.” Please let me know if this does not fit the necessary licensing required for a data import, or if there are any other concerns with these statements.
I am a resident of Lower Merion Township, the only place I plan to import into at this moment, and I’ve been editing in and around the Township for years. I am importing data in order to save time, and I want to be careful with what I am doing, considering my inexperience with JOSM and the wiki and whatnot.
My successful test changeset of this data import can be found here. For any other documentation, see my OSM user page, as well as my OSM wiki user page and its subpage about the import. Just trying to be safe with getting this known and approved.
Best,
I-76
(Please note that the one place I cannot post about this is the slack, as that website is restricted by my school-issued device where I conduct OSM work.)
