Population density datasets

Can any recommend the best commercial or non commercial population density dataset. I want to create a heat map of how density changes (down to 10m2 scale if possible). UK focus.

OpenStreetMap is not usable as such source.

Yes understand not suitable for OSM but looking for external datasets to use as layer

Usually you can get population data sets from each country’s statistics office. E.g. for UK:

• Census Output Area Population Estimates (supporting information)
• and the geometries for that: Output Areas December 2021

If you want to get fancy you could try to use OSM’s landuse and building data to estimate on a higher resolution where people actually live.
