popular names on shop=bakery - brands, common names or descriptive

Is any of names below an unwanted generic name (like amenity=restaurant name=Restaurant)?
Or a valid common name (like amenity=restaurant name=Bamboo), without an uniting brand?
Or a valid brand?

Backshop
Bäckerei Schmidt
Bäckerei Schneider
Büsch
Goeken backen
Hinnerbäcker
Nur Hier
Oebel
Schneider

I am asking as I want to improve https://github.com/osmlab/name-suggestion-index/ and I lack local knowledge for Germany. Data from this project are used for example by iD and Vespucci. Improving it may help mappers using this editors.

I think “Backshop” just means bakery, so it is not a name that should occur in OpenStreetMap.

Luckily not

Nr. 2+3+5, “Bäckerei” means bakery

AFAIK No!

The other names seem to be proper names of the shop owners/operators.

Backshop is “DEnglish” for Bäckerei and may be a valid name element only in conjunction with a proper name.

It is not common but there are cases like https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/4908694234 where “Backshop” appears to be used as a descriptive name. See http://overpass-turbo.eu/s/IEe

Agreed, so I wrote “may be a valid name element only in conjunction with a proper name.”

These names can all occur, seems to be typical bakery names in Germany.

“Nur Hier” is a Franchise (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franchising) with lots of stores in Hamburg.
But I think “Nur Hier” is still the name visible to their customers.

As the first step Backshop was removed from list of potentially valid names as a generic name (despite its popularity) - thanks for a help! (this is not something that is directly visible to mappers using iD or Vespucci but helps in making the index better)

Nur Hier looks like a brand ( https://nur-hier.de/ ), I am unsure about Bäckerei Schneider - there is https://www.schneiders-baeckerei.de/unsere-baeckereien.html?adress=Siegen but it covers only some of this names

Büsch may be brand used by EDEKA, but I am also not sure.

Other look like a common names without uniting brand and will be also processed. Thanks for the help!

Schneider is an incredibly common name in Germany so it’s very likely these are all independent bakeries that just happen to share the name.

Büsch seems to be a subsidiary of EDEKA Rhein-Ruhr, originally a family run company, acquired in 2002. → https://verbund.edeka/rhein-ruhr/%C3%BCber-uns/produktion-eigenmarken/b%C3%BCsch/
