Is there a way to map such places?

And I would like to distinguish between official sites (for example, places in the metro approved by the authorities) and unofficial/informal ones.

How often would one have to come by such a place and see no musician before the place can be deleted?

Places like this are seasonal near me. In season you will hear street musicians every day. There are of course and less popular spots with musicians playing multiple times a week but in random days. But main ones - every day. Out of season it depends. And it is not just some random place they are quite stable. People are playing in same spots for at least 25 years. Probably much much longer. If you want to listen to music you always can go there and people do.

Well, you can always ask locals, sellers in nearby stores, etc.

In the case of official places, everything is even simpler, since there are documents.

If it is somehow marked, I could imagine amenity=stage could be set.

Otherwise I see parallels with street_vendor=yes but I don’t know how to best use it.

amenity=stage implies the presence of some kind of stage structure. Typically, street musicians only have equipment and musical instruments.

amenity=music_venue + street_vendor=yes? Idk, would that cause problems for data consumers that don’t specifically support that combination?

Alternately, you could invent leisure=street_musician…

That sounds like a textbook example for a troll tag and a musician isn’t even a vendor either.

I don’t think reusing an existing tag is a great idea, but something like amenity=busking_spot or leisure=busking_spot, with informal=yes if applicable, could work

I don’t necessarily disagree, but by that argument isn’t street_vendor=yes already a troll tag?

(FWIW I think inventing leisure=busking_spot sounds like the best idea so far. It’s more flexible than leisure=street_musician, and more accurate than amenity=music_venue.)

TI has 6 each of busking | Keys | OpenStreetMap Taginfo & busking:area | Keys | OpenStreetMap Taginfo both as =yes!

Looks like they’re both used on the same spots in Germany / Czechia.

These seem to indicate that busking is allowed in the parks so tagged, but not specific spots for busking

(perhaps the parks in Plzeň don’t have usual or designated busking spots)
