ParkMoto UK Motorcycle Parking Import - Community Consultation (Retroactive)

Hi community, this post is regarding my import of 797 motorcycle parking bays across 4 London boroughs using the Council FOI data under Open Government Licence v3.0 (OGL v3.0).

My mistake/error was regarding not consulting with the community prior to importing the data. I’ve acknowledged this and was incorrect in my approach, apologies. This won’t happen again.

The wiki page link: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Import/ParkMoto_UK_Motorcycle_Parking

Regarding my discussion with Phil and the Camden revert: The DWG reverted the changeset number 181454614 due to spot-checking being used through google maps. I completely accept this was not the correct approach, and I’ll make sure that future imports always use Mapillary and ground surveys.

Regarding the license evidence, I have the OGL confirmation emails saved as PDFs and am happy to share them directly. Please let me know the best way to do this as I was under the impression it could be attached here however, new users are unable to upload attachments.

I’d like to mention that Camden’s OGL is published on their open data portal, the link for this: https://opendata.camden.gov.uk/Transport/Parking-Bays/7hiv-3r9k

From this, I would greatly appreciate the community review of the remaining imports from the other boroughs (tower Hamlets, Lambeth and RBKC) and some feedback on the process for any future imports.

Regarding the changesets: the following are the one’s posted for imports:

  • Camden (reverted by DWG): 181454614 (240 bays)

  • Lambeth: 182359976 (313 bays)

  • Tower Hamlets: 181692301 (69 bays)

  • RBKC: 182853493 (171 bays)

  • Tag correction (addr:street): 182873216 (745 tags)

I hope this helps and apologies again.

Cheers,

Parkmoto.

I haven’t looked at the rest of the details, but I spotted that the opening_hours didn’t quite use the correct format. This is quite strictly defined in OSM. E.g., you had Mon-Sat 8.30am-6.30pm but it should have been Mo-Sa 08:30-18:30. Two letters for days and 24 hour time. I believe I have fixed all of these though.

Hi @confusedbuffalo → Thank you for resolving the formatting issue, apologies for the error.
