Hi,
the DWG has had a message from a person working for the Parco Naturale Mont Avic asking if we could add the boundaries of their national park to OSM. They sent me this GeoJSON: http://www.remote.org/frederik/tmp/montavic.geojson
I have looked at the file and found that in many places, their boundary is very close to existing admin boundaries in OSM, e.g.
I explained this to them and asked if they could tell me, in words, where the park boundary coincides with admin boundaries so that we can map it correctly in OSM. They said
unfortunately also the administrative borders are quite variable among sources (even the official regional cartography office has several of them: land registry, national level, regional level. This is particularly true in mountains along ridges.
The boundary [we have sent] is the official one, but has been digitalized by regional offices based on land registry in some places, other boundaries in other sectors, from that the differences you noticed.
Therefore I do not know which is the best solution. I would say to leave both borders, because our shp has a legal meaning for rules’ compliance.
Can someone take care of this?
