OverPass Turbo and ref:WDPA=* and tag2link

Hello.
I ask for a little patience in advance in case I cannot explain the following situation correctly.
I was looking in OverPass-Turbo for items related to ref:WDPA=* and it returns information with the corresponding values. The result for ref:WDPA=* is a clickable link that redirects to= https://eunis.eea.europa.eu/sites/$1
However, this website displays the following message: We are sorry, the requested site does not exist
After a little research I find:

  • tag2link is generally used as a Formatter URLs for OpenStreetMap tags, but I don’t know if this is what OverPass-Turbo uses.
  • tag2link and taginfo (page 22) shows a second URLhttps://protectedplanet.net/$1 that does work and I assume it is the one that should be redirected to when using the clickable link.
  • Project json file

I have no idea where or to whom this situation should be reported.
Maybe someone with more experience in this regard could make the corresponding report.

I cannot reproduce the problem.

For example, if I use this query: “ref:WDPA”=* in Berlin and click on one of the found objects (e.g. this one: Way: ‪Barssee und Pechsee‬ (‪25667571‬) | OpenStreetMap) and then click on the value of ref:WDPA, it opens the website correctly, without the error message: https://eunis.eea.europa.eu/sites/82310

How does your Overpass-query look like? Maybe some of your objects have an incorrect ref:WDPA-value?

Could it be something related to areas of influence? Something like ref:WDPA=* located in Europe open with the URL of EEA and those located outside Europe open with Protected Planet?
Or maybe an incomplete EEA database?

Search outside of Europe, in America.

Europe:

Colombia

https://eunis.eea.europa.eu/sites/555511937

Canadá

https://eunis.eea.europa.eu/sites/4162

Brasil

https://eunis.eea.europa.eu/sites/555599966

Query OverPass on Haiti.

Ah, now I understand.

I would recommend creating an issue on the Overpass Turbo GitHub:

They should probably always refer to the Protected Planet website.
