Over the past two days, we’ve conducted a comparative test between the two overpass instances of cartes.app: the one running the main version and the one running @mmd’s fork. Requests from cartes.app were sent randomly to one instance or the other.
- A query for 1 OSM element with geometry and metadata takes 10–20 ms instead of 700-800 ms
- For all our other request types (without metadata), the improvement is at least 2x (for complex queries) and up to 5x (for simpler queries).
