Hi, i have created an android app that integrates osm droid.

In live mode it will now and then speak the name of the street you’re walking. Once you enter another street it will speak the name.

In places mode it will speak the name of a place you have marked before. So this is good for your home city.

In track mode it will speak places on tracks. This is good for foreign places as a guide. You can exchange tracks with other people.

The app is yet signed.

Another of my Apps is windvolt. It shows a daily prognosis of renewable energy. Maybe you could add such to OSM.

OSM records ground truth, visible objects. I think prognoses are mostly not visible on the ground.
