Organized updates in Michigan state

Hi fellow mappers,

I’m Levi, HD Map Team Lead at aiMotive, a company developing automated driving technology. Since OSM data is directly used in our development and testing environments, maintaining accurate road metadata in areas where we operate is important to us. When we collect fresh on-the-ground survey data, we review the corresponding OSM content and update attributes such as maxspeed, lanes, and turn:lanes where we identify discrepancies.

Over the coming weeks, our team will be reviewing and updating selected routes in Michigan based on recent (and ongoing) field recordings collected by our own survey vehicles.

Our vehicles are equipped with GNSS and multi-camera recording systems. All edits are performed manually after careful review of the footage. No automated or AI-based editing is involved.

To ensure transparency and compliance with the Organized Editing Guidelines, we have taken the following steps:

- Created an Organized Editing wiki page describing our activity (linked to our user profiles as well):
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Organised_Editing/Activities/aiMotive

- Added our company to the Organized Editing/Activities table:
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Organised_Editing/Activities

- Started using a dedicated hashtag in relevant changesets:
#aimotive

The following users are part of this supervised editing effort:

Misyekx
fenyovariz
rekakovacs
rekacs3
Duskie
Janos Hajdu
kex23

All editing is performed under my supervision. We aim to be careful, conservative, and respectful of existing mapping work.

If you notice any issues with our edits or have suggestions on how we can better align with local mapping practices, let me know!

You can also reach me directly at: levente.szeman@aimotive.com

Thank you, and we look forward to cooperating with the community.

Best regards,
Levente Szemán

Thanks for following the Organized editing guideline.

Just a comment regarding all your recent changes (which in general looked good) it would be appreciate to as well check on other things, like the surface or road signs.

Maybe it makes life easier for you to upload a couple of more changes per changeset. It feels a bit cumbersome to upload road segment by road segment.

In case there are no lane markings (like in Changeset: 178686042 | OpenStreetMap) you would want to add lane_markings=no.
