I am pleased to announce that the 6th Mapathon at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem will take place on 27 April 2026, starting at 16:00.
We will continue the effort begun at the 2025 mapathon, during which we mapped buildings in Shefaram (שפרעם). Although our main aim is to raise awareness of OSM among Hebrew University students, the event is open to the public, subject to advance registration. More details are available here: מפהתון בעברית | המחלקה לגאוגרפיה .
I am writing this message in accordance with the organized editing guidelines, and also to invite members of the Israeli OSM community to join us at the mapathon and to contribute to the validation efforts afterwards.
I would like to join (from Netanya, I’m one of the first OSM contributors in Italy, living in Israel since 2009). The form looks like is for students only. Am I allowed to join?
Hi, the material in the link I’ve supplied is directed towards students at HUJI, since they are the primary crowd we are aiming to engage with in this event. The event however is open to the general public and all our welcomed (just remember to register please).
It may be a good idea to have new mappers read the basic guidelines for Israel: Hebrew, English. The page attempts to record the most essential mapping tips to get started.
