My main issue with that idea is that I’m pretty sure certain person who shall not be named would put a following spin on it:
“Aha! They’ve undid that merge because we caught them red-handed while stealing our code – so they’re admitting to having stolen our code, or they would’ve never undone those changes! CoMaps are now registered thieves by their own admission!” (or some similar FUD that some people might find believable
).
It is rarely a good idea to give in to bullies, even when that looks like easier way to deal with situation – as it is likely to bring new problems increased tenfold.
