OpenMapTiles (vector tiles) on osm.org

I spotted a recent blog post about vector tiles which included the following:

We have proposed that this style is featured on osm.org as the best way to represent OpenStreetMap data on vector maps.

Does anybody know anything about this and the likelihood of it happening?

Just reading the article & I wonder if there’s a couple of typos there?

“this style As featured on osm.org Is the best way to represent OpenStreetMap data on vector maps”, seems to make a bit more sense?

I think it makes sense in context - " We have proposed that…" means that it hasn’t happened yet, and they’re proposing that it does happen. Issue 4042 has all the gory detail of the sausage being made.
