Official website as source for POI tags (automation?)

Hi,

despite using OSM for a myriad times during cycling trips, I just recently discovered (shame on me) that there is also so much data behind the icons like opening hours, phone numbers etc, which is really awesome!

In an effort to give something back I tagged a whole lot of buildings in the last days. But as it turns out this is even more time consuming than I expected it to be, so I was thinking about ways to speed up the process. Before I start diving into more technical issues I want to make sure this doesn’t infringe any copyright laws:

  1. As to my understand, retrieving the details from the official website is okay?
  2. The program I’m thinking about is fed with the official URL and trys to automatically extract the details and shape them up for the OSM data base. Are there any legal/copyright concerns on this?

I’m not sure I can pull this off, but I’d like to make sure that it wouldn’t be in vain

Cheers to all the great mappers out there!
