As the image shows: If I were to use micromapping, I’d go for barrier=step. But how about this?: there’s also the option of ‘stretching’ the staircase using flat_steps. That makes the whole thing easier and, in my opinion, clearer.
It depends on the situation on ground imo. If there are really solid, long lasting steps in a path one can surely map them as barrier=step individually.
If such steps qualify as flat_steps according to the wiki page (limited in height) this is another option (which I would prefer over mapping the steps individually).
If the steps are irregular in shape and size (and not flat enough to be flat_steps) I would not hesitate to use obstacle=steps for such a path section.
