NSW bus stop website=*

Inspired by Gregory’s suggestion at [talk-au] Transperth - add live bus times page to bus-stop website tags to add website links to Perth bus stops.

I’d like to propose we add website links to all public transport stations and stops mapped in NSW.

I believe https://transportnsw.info/stop?q=<station id> is the main authoritive website for each stop, this includes train stations, ferry wharfs and bus stops. eg https://transportnsw.info/stop?q=206710

The overpass wizard query (public_transport=platform or highway=bus_stop or railway=station or amenity=ferry_terminal) and website=* in “NSW, AU” reveals 55 objects in OSM with a website tag already.

A bunch of these point to the TripPlanner eg https://transportnsw.info/2259869 but I believe the prior stop page is a better overall website link representing the stop.

I’m proposing to add new new website tags which public_transport=platform or highway=bus_stop or railway=station or amenity=ferry_terminal) and ref=* in "NSW, AU".

Then also to replace those with a website tag for the transportnsw.info trip planner. The others with other website tags will be reviewed manually.

Any comments, feedback on this proposal?

I’ve been reviewing a process to do this, due to the state of the current data, it needs a lot of care if done as an automated edit as I’m suggesting.

I’ll document the proposed process.

My local bus stops have website=https://www.islandbuses.info/stops/230000002230. I use it daily to find departure times, it’s great.

Assuming there is only one bus operator in your area, and it’s a first party website, it’s a strong recommend from me to add them.
