Agree - if the note also describes why a survey is needed.
A note consisting only of “Road closed” is not a note I would go out of my way to survey for. For all we know it was closed once for an hour because a fire truck was responding to a cat stuck in a tree.
Write “Road closed, landslide” or “Road closed, locked gate” instead. And those will be easier to process for armchair mappers too…

Ok, it should have been “the note must allow somebody who has not been to that place […] to make an edit or provide sufficient reason to do a survey” - as Jarek says, it just needs to be more specific, otherwise it is useless.

But my question regards etiquette around closing other peoples’ notes.
And @Mateusz_Konieczny answer is about that: making a polite note (simply by replacing the hashtag #osmand by #will_resolve_myself or something similar) decreases the risk of being closed without comment.

How about writing your Note, if necessarily, cryptically, then resolving it with a comment “Personal Note to be mapped”.
It will show as resolved for 7 days then disappear, but you can find it via that list & add whatever details you need to.

I’m sorry, but that seems a bit far-fetched to me. Why would anybody write a note for an obviously short-term temporary closure? But sure, people think differently, I’ll make sure to add more context in future.
Ok, I did not know that notes persist indefinitely in the system; I figured once closed it would (eventually) get removed from the database.
I mean, maybe they were making a note to themselves to note where they had to turn around. You’re the one that made a note consisting of “icycles tour”, you can’t tell us people don’t create OSM notes for reasons known only to themselves.

We had all kinds of confused notes (including someone asking for legal advise in inheritance case), personal notes (someone marking where they found objects with metal detector), malicious trolls, people pasting lorem ipsum, people posting snippets of low-quality fiction etc.
We also had people reporting closures caused by traffic accidents or road construction existing only in promises of politicians.

Could be people thinking the notes feature in whatever app they have works like Waze (or some other crowd-sourced reporting app)?
