No access tag to mark as private. Gated street
Hi @Hamsterdw, you can edit it directly by clicking on the ‘Edit’ button on the website. This will open an embedded editor (called iD).
In the editor’s left panel, when you select a road, you will see an option to add access. You can set it to private.
This will add the tag access=private to the road itself.
If there is a gate, you can always add it as a barrier=gate node and split the street into the publicly accessible segment and the non-public segment.

If its really not accessible - sign/gate - access=private (or the type of restriction - may be motorcar=private or motor_vehicle=private when pedestrians or single track vehicles may go around the gate)
If its just a private road but no explicit “Keep out” signs/gates: operator:type=private
