With otherstates changing the prefix of their ref tags from their postal abbreviations to “SR,” I propose we do the same thing for Nevada. The Nevada DOT, Wikidata, and Nevada locals and signage consistently use “SR” rather than “NV” for their prefix.
What do you think? Should Nevada switch its ref prefix from “NV” to “SR”?
Done, I have updated the first two pages. (The third was already done, which I’ll assume is the reason it was struck out.)
From everyone in the Nevada community, are there any last objections to this change? Since it has been two weeks with no activity, I will likely close the poll very soon before I start making these (mass) changes.
Since there appear to be no objections or any more comments, I will close this poll at midnight on August 9, 2026.[1] I will proceed with the changes on Monday to start off the new week.
(Yes, this does mean we will need to contact Mapbox again to inform them of the new ref prefix.)
All changes from “NV” to “SR” should now be complete. To be clear, I did not just change the ways’ ref values. I also changed old_ref, destination:ref, unsigned_ref, and a few others.
