Network Exception - not connecting to server:why?

I’m using JOSM v19613 and am now unable to download any data. I constantly get the same error message (2 days now) :-

I have searched the forum for similar problems but only 10yr old ones exist and are no help to me

I can ping api.openstreetmap.org without any errors whatsoever. I cannot use IPv6 and am stuck with IPv4 so cannot use the UK based server that I’ve read about.

I use OAuth 2.0 and have tested my access token, this works successfully and returns my user name and id

This is the second day now and since it started yesterday I have had zero connections via JOSM

I don’t know what to do next - can somebody help me here?

this is unrelated

also unrelated as you are trying to get data from Overpass. Are you intending to do this?

I have read through Overpass API performance issues thread, most of this is over my head I’m afraid.

Sorry if they are unrelated, I was trying to give as much information as possible.
Yes, it is an Overpass API query I am attempting to run

Odd that it’s solidly blocking my requests, there has been other errors before but not like this one.

To be clear, I was not complaining - I was just trying to explain. And it better to give too much info.

@_john_paul_jones_gringo If you cannot reach overpass-api.de, either the server is completely overloaded or your IP address has been blocked because you or anyone sharing this IP with you made too many requests.
