It was pretty obvious he was banned for life for good reason, so why is the DWG slipping now? I can’t fathom a good reason to ever welcome that guy back, especially after how he treated the OSM community (and me specifically), and extremely especially after he’s back to his old bullshit immediately (to the map’s immediate detriment). This seems like either a failure of the ban system or the DWG, and it’s not obvious which, but needs to be examined.

There’s as far as I can tell nothing nefarious in any form going on. The last time I looked at the code, you had to specify a duration for a block and at the time @pnorman entered 11 years. That ran out a year ago, and frankly I suspect the DWG has slightly bigger fish to fry than to run after NE2.
