Hi,
I’m currently developing an open-source navigation project called
Navi, which is built around OpenStreetMap data—and since I’m using a
significant amount of Norwegian OSM data in the development (including the DNT network for
hiking trails, as well as rules related to the right of public access for camping
and overnight stays).
It is written in Rust, uses standard crates.
Brief overview of the project:
- Offline route planning for cars, motorcycles, bicycles, and on foot,
based on Geofabrik extracts of OSM data - Support for the DNT network and other official hiking/biking routes
(via OSM’s route relations) - Speed camera warning supported
- Elevation data from Copernicus DEM for energy-efficient (“eco”) route planning
- Driving and rest time regulations for heavy-duty vehicles (EU 561/2006)
- Support for moving APRS icons ( Navi/docs/plugins.md at main · Supermagnum/Navi · GitHub )
- A sandboxed plugin host exists so future add-ons can run safely.
It’s ready for testing on Android devices.
