Natural slope mapped as embankment - should I correct that?

Hi all,
I was hiking in the Bayerischer Wald region, and some paths that were running, sometimes zig-zagging, up a steep slope, were mapped as “embankment=yes”. If you want to see examples: OpenStreetMap

However, there was nothing man made - you may argue that the path itself was flattened into the slope, but that IMHO would not qualify as embankment.

Still, before I start removing the keyword, I’d like to hear if anyone might have an explanation why embankment=yes might make sense.

I would remove the embankment in this case. OSM is not a digital elevation model.
