Name suggestion index simplification

Would it be nice if it were easier to add entries into the NSI without having to edit code or raising an issue on GitHub? Like a platform within ODM that populates the repository after verification. I also think josm should have NSI entries. Vespucci has this functionality.

JOSM has presets generated from the NSI (IMHO not the best idea of all time, but still useful).

There’s a third-party form. But I won’t promote it here, as I feel it’s not mature enough yet to be mass adopted. I will raise a ticket to discuss its scalability.
A no for the others. iD is the default for all and new users. The presets needs to be scrutinized independently.
As allured by others, one limitation of JOSM is it will be slowed down by installing too many presets. iD being online is more suitable for geographically aware selection.

Anyone can create a josm plugin for the NSI that doesn’t use the preset system or even submit a patch for the josm core itself, but: someone needs to actually do the work :tm:

Indeed, I thought about an autofill from *:wikidata= this week. Unfortunately, I’m not good enough at programming, let alone Java.

Can I have a look at that form? If you can send me the link via private message

Are you referring to the tool in this announcement? I saw you filed some issues against that tool yesterday. It isn’t a secret, but if you’re worried about it spamming the repository, maybe you could leave a note in that discussion so anyone who stumbles upon it is aware of the issues as you see them.

Ah ha, you have noticed it. I wasn’t portraying it as private. It’s lesser known.
I may have found it from this forum too Getting iD editor to automatically recognise an entity and add a wikidata tag it
Someone already further mentioned it in a QA list GB Brands Missing from the NSI | Robert Whittaker's OpenStreetMap Stuff
The truth is I had forgotten where it was publicized. Somehow unable to search for it. So I stopped after raising them at the repo.

tried it. very simple and straightforward. however, it has limited options for tags. for example, one cannot add payment methods
