Mountain biking route - how to add tiny section of it going via town

I added mountain biking routes to OSM before.
New relation, add members to it. It worked.

But this new route (I named it MoCo Epic Hundred Miles) goes for tiny section via town.

And I have one other problem.

See questions

Q1 How this is done? e.g., part of street will be part of the route but other will not?

Can a mounting biking route have "gaps" and how big they can be?

Q2 On existing singletrack paths, I also need to add just portion of the path. Is there easy way to split existing route into 2 parts and I can add one of the parts to the relation?

Q3 How can I get some link or ID for the relation (route MoCo Epic Hundred Miles) (to e.g., seek help from others on how to improve it). This one: (and in this web osm editor)

Q4 Perhaps even some LLM/AI to help with adding it. Given gpx track, it would suggest what existing routes to add (where split is needed). It will be a lot of work for the 98 mile track.
Can a gap be there and “solved” by just GPX track over streets. Splitting a street feature just to add to a route seems like an overkill….

I am not sure we want to be adding route relations just because some club recommends it as a ride. Others may disagree.

If you were to do this, you can just split the way representing the road that is part of the route and then add the resulting way to the route relation. The same applies where only part of a trail is part of the route.

which part of road is signed on the ground as being part of the route?

Can you elaborate on this a bit? Is this just a route that you’ve created? Is this a route for an event that’s held once at a specific date (sounds like it is)?

Neither of those should be added to OSM as a route relation.
