Misleading created_by=MapboxMapper tag on third-party changeset #188113409

Hi everyone and @DWG,

We wanted to bring to your attention a recent changeset: #188113409.

This changeset includes roads added with the comment “from Google Maps” and carries the tag created_by = MapboxMapper.

We want to state clearly on the public record that Mapbox and the Mapbox Data Team have no affiliation with this edit or user (Mtsmec052).

Our internal data team does not use this software pipeline. It appears a third-party application or custom editor setup is hardcoding or spoofing our identifier tag.

We are currently reaching out to the user to identify the software client they used. If the DWG has access to User-Agent logs that could help identify the application bundle ID, we would greatly appreciate your assistance so we can reach out to the developer and request a fix to the created_by string.

fastest way to reach DWG is to drop them a mail at data@openstreetmap.org
