Metainformation on buildings

Hello everybody,

I’m new to OSM and wondered if it’s possible to retrieve metainformation on buildings like height, ground-plan aera or cardinal direction.

Or, if you prefer your documentation without internal contradictions (which can be a problem in OSM sometimes ;)), have a look at
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Simple_3D_Buildings
which is a subset of the ideas from “Building attributes” hand-picked by several developer groups working on 3D visualization of buildings in OSM.

Coverage of the data is still pretty poor, though. In most areas you will be lucky to find building footprints.
