Megafon, t2 and Beeline - shop=mobile_phone to shop=telecommunication

Hi there,

On the NSI, Russian telecom operator shops (Megafon, t2 and Beeline) are currently tagged as shop=mobile_phone. However, these shops mainly focus on services such as Internet contracts, IPTV, streaming services, SIM cards, and mobile/Internet plans. While they do sell some phones, that’s minimal compared to their main purpose.

This is different from a shop=mobile_phone, and matches the description of shop=telecommunication perfectly.

Does the Russian community agree that I update Megafon, t2 and Beeline shops from shop=mobile_phone to shop=telecommunication on the NSI, which can then be updated on OSM?

МТС has also been removed from shop=mobile_phone and will be slowly pushed to shop=telecommunication by iD and similar.

Extra info: Ii’s already pushed to shop=telecommunication by iD and similar. It just had a duplicate shop=mobile_phone. The others cases are different as they only appear in shop=mobile_phone.

I oppose

Almost everybody in Russia already owns sim-card. Primarily, these shops sell mobile phones (they have good assortment), tablets and accessoires, as I see. Unlike European mobile shops, phones are sold almost always without contracts.

Agree with @literan . From my experience, branded telecom operator shops make practically no difference with other mobile phone shops.

I oppose too. Megafon or t2 or Beeline etc, most often we go there to buy a new phone.

Thanks for the feedback, these shops will then stay shop=mobile_phone in Russia. Also reverting MTC to shop=mobile_phone.
