Map Change I have no idea how to do

This is a change that I have no idea on how to do without screwing things up. OSM has a section of road as one way which is actually two lanes, one in each direction. You can see it in Satellite view. I started working on it but when it looked like I was off base I stopped. Here is the location.OpenStreetMap

I’d say it was just accidentally marked as one-way?

Fairly easy to fix by just splitting the road & taking out the one-way tag on that section.

You could also just leave a Changeset Comment to ask the OP about it.

Yes split way Way: ‪East Parkway‬ (‪1292961174‬) | OpenStreetMap at node Node: 11986488840 | OpenStreetMap and remove the oneway-tag. Also compare the tagging with way Way: ‪East Parkway‬ (‪1292961156‬) | OpenStreetMap (east end of the road).

I had thought about that after I made my post. That wouldn’t change that it looks like two separate lanes like it does where it has it as only one way.

I selected the node point which says it can’t be split.

While I like helping to improve OSM and have submitted numerous changes / updates this one is requiring more steps that someone with more knowledge might need to make the change.

Maybe because the way is part of a relation… It’s fixed now.

That does show that it is now two way, however unless I’m missing something it isn’t showing the same separation of the lanes as seen in the satellite view which the way the road is.

It’s common to map two way streets as a single line where there is no physical barrier between the lanes. The line in that case represents the notional concept of a routable way, routable in either direction. It doesn’t necessarily match the physical layout.

Is there a physical barrier between the directions here?

That makes perfect sense if there isn’t a physical barrier. From the satellite imagery the one lane is used as a turning lane. I have updated it but did get some warning errors so have asked that my edits be reviewed. As mentioned in an earlier reply I had thought of just changing it from one way to two way direction. The reason I didn’t want to do that is with a GPS if you aren’t in line with where the co-ordinates say you should be you get an “Off Route, Recalculate” situation. I’ve encountered this numerous times with road changes or when roads are altered during current construction.

Personally, I don’t think that was something worth changing. Yeah, it was pedantically correct, since this 100 m stretch of the motorway lacks physical separation, but for all practical intents and purposes it is still a separate motorway. The way it is drawn now only makes it more confusing for both viewers and data consumers (looks like road narrowing which isn’t there; requires 3-4 new turn restrictions to the side roads [you may not turn left, can you?]; complicates route and transport relations etc.)

I understand your point. The first edit by @PHerison did fix / correct the fact that the section of road was two way and not one way. By reviewing my edits they might revert it to the change that @PHerison made. If they do, I’m fine with that. I discovered the problem when my GPS wanted me to turn because it had it as one way in the opposite direction.

The imagery appears to show a two-way left turn lane. If you map the road as a dual carriageway, there’s nowhere to put the turn lane.

By the way, is it permitted to turn left from side streets onto the highway? I don’t see any restriction signs:

For the record: I had to revert Changeset: 155427292 | OpenStreetMap as there were more issues plus took the chance to map more detailed using the :lanes tagging.
